Why Sacred Music?
Incarnate Prayer
Liturgical music does not accompany prayer: it is prayer itself. Gregorian chant, Byzantine hymnography and monastic choirs are forms of sung theology, passed down from generation to generation.
Living Tradition
Each collection is performed by monastic communities that still live the liturgical tradition today: the Cistercians of Casamari, P. Gaitanos in the Greek rite, the Benedictines of Chevetogne in the double Roman and Byzantine rite.
East and West
The three collections represent the two great musical traditions of the Church: Latin Gregorian chant and Greek Byzantine hymnography. A richness that belongs to all of Christianity.
